A statement by a Kinder Morgan lawyer in B.C. Supreme Court that facial expressions could constitute assault set the Internet abuzz this week and prompted a social media backlash.
Protesters and supporters are taking to Twitter and Facebook after Kinder Morgan lawyer Bill Kaplan, referring to photos in court exhibits, said the malicious expression on protesters' faces combined with their "snarls" could constitute a form of assault.
Now, these kinds of anti-bullying laws that Kinder Morgan are trying to hide behind were called for by the people to protect the lives of young people such as Rehtaeh Parsons, not to satisfy the needs of multi-national parasitic verminations such as Kinder Morgan. When we call for something that protects US, it belongs to US and is not to be manipulated by corporations or governments. This is treason.
We suggest that you either phone or write your MLA in Victoria and demand that they press for the reintroduction of the Protection of Public Participation Act that was introduced by the NDP in 2001 with the intent of preventing this sort of strategic litigation against public participation - otherwise known as SLAPP suits. This legislation was unfortunately, very short-lived, as newly elected Premier, Gordon Campbell swiftly repealed the act in 2001, as one the first of many gifts that he bestowed upon corporations during his heinous tenure as Premier of this province.
You can bet that Kinder Morgan feels they have the support of the Harpo government in Ottawa or they wouldn't dare pull this stunt. We have to ask ourselves the question, "Why does the government feel bold enough to thwart the desires of the people? How dare they commit treason against us and fear no punishment?"
Isn't it time we formed law courts of our own, French revolution style, and dragged these treasonous miscreants into them? Making alliances with Kinder Morgan is no different from making alliances with the Hapsburg Empire. Treason is treason and our governments today are far too willing to fight for the rights of a few multi-nationals rather than We The People. That has to end.
